Dear visitors,
Republic Polytechnic confirmed its first A-H1N1 case on 22 June 2009. The first year student had contracted the virus from his parents, who had tested positive with the virus upon returning from Australia.
The student displayed symptoms of the virus over the weekend and was immediately sent to hospital.
He is currently recovering well in hospital.
4,500 students, mostly from the first year cohort, were asked to continue their lessons online. The students had to communicate with facilitators via the Learning Environment Online (LEO) from 25 June to 1 July 2009.
The Polytechnic has since thoroughly disinfected the classrooms and common areas on campus. The cleaning regimen is a daily exercise.
