The Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil to Singapore, His Excellency Paulo Alberto da Silveira Soares, paid his first visit to Republic Polytechnic (RP) on 10 September 2009.
H.E. Paulo was interested to learn more about RP’s pedagogy following positive feedback received from the Jovens Mineiros project, where a group of 20 Brazilian students attended a 3-week immersion programme in RP from 27 July to 14 August 2009.
H.E. Paulo was welcomed by Mr Yeo Li Pheow (Principal and CEO), Dr Terence Chong (Director, Office of International Relations) and Ms Wong Wai Ling (Director, School of Information and Communications Technology). He was then given a presentation on RP’s pedagogy and a guided tour of the campus. In the ensuing discussion, HE Paulo discussed the numerous possibilities through which the Brazilian community in Singapore could collaborate with RP, in areas of interest ranging from conservation to capoeira.
During the campus tour, H.E. Paulo was introduced to the library, sports complex, ALC and the Raffles Hospitality Centre. He was led around the premises by Director, School of Hospitality, Mr Albert Toh.
