Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (R22)

Course Structure

To fulfil the requirements for the full-time diploma, students need to successfully complete a total of 30 modules. The course consists of foundation modules, core discipline modules and specialisation modules.

The course covers a wide area in the pharmaceutical sciences, ranging from drug discovery, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology, pharmaceutics, compounding, clinical trials pharmaceutical legislation, marketing and pharmacotherapy.

There are two options for specialisation. They are:

  • Pharmacy Practice
  • Industrial Pharmacy
Students may select elective modules in specialised areas such as Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Nutraceuticals, Pharmaceutical Logistics, Clinical Trials and Epidemiology and Health Promotion. These equip the student with knowledge to enter respective growth sectors, in addition to the established pharmacy and healthcare sectors.

The inclusion of the Industry Immersion Programme (IIP) in the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences curriculum will provide students with professional practice experience, exposure to direct patient care, current industry practices and standards through attachment opportunities.

The following table lists modules offered for the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sciences (DPHM).
