A night to remember – RP receives awards at Singapore HR Awards 2009
It was indeed a night to remember for Republic Polytechnic (RP) at this year’s Singapore HR Awards ceremony on 3rd July 2009. Every year, Singapore Human Resource Institute (SHRI) organises this prestigious award ceremony to celebrate the success of leading organisations and HR professionals for their best human resource initiatives and practices. Held at Raffles City Convention Centre, the gala dinner was graced by
our Guest-of-Honour, Mrs Yu-Foo Yee Shoon,
Minister of State for Community Development, Youth
and Sports.
This year, RP was conferred the Leading HR Practice Awards in 4 categories, namely Employee Relations and People Management, E-Human Resource Management, Quality Work-Life and Health and Employee Wellness. As an award recipient for the Leading HR Practices in Quality Work-life in 2006, 2008 and 2009, RP has earned herself the HR Advocate Award – Quality Work-Life. This award serves to recognise organisations which have been conferred the Leading HR Practices Awards in a particular category for 3 years within a period of 5 consecutive years. Mr Eden Liew,
Deputy Principal of RP, received the award on RP’s
behalf.

More importantly, RP is proud to be conferred the prestigious Corporate HR Award. This award is presented to organisations for their commendable people management practices which have enhanced the role of HR to better cater to the needs to businesses and organisations. To qualify for this award, organisations have to win at least 4 leading HR Practice awards. RP is honored to be among the eight award recipients including IBM Singapore, Singapore Power, The Ritz-Carlton, Millenia Singapore and other industry leaders. Mr Yeo Li Pheow, Principal of RP, received this award on RP’s behalf.
Mr Yeo said in his thank-you speech: “This award represents the combined accomplishments of the team at Republic Polytechnic – a team which I am privileged and proud to lead. More importantly, the Corporate HR Award will serve as a reminder to RP to continue to strengthen our people management and development practices.”
The final glamorous spotlight of the evening shone on RP’s HR Director, Mr Anderson Lim. He was one of the four award recipients to receive the Leading HR Leader Award. This award recognises the outstanding leadership capabilities of an individual whose contributions in the HR field has significantly influenced the achievements and success of his organisation.
From this year’s Singapore HR Awards ceremony, RP took home a total of seven awards.
This truly marked a key milestone for the HR team and RP. These awards will continue to serve as a motivation to the team in clinching the Corporate HR Champion Award in the near future.
