People's Association thanks Republic Poly for support in Chingay Parade

Dear Mr Yeo,

Chingay 2010 was successfully held on Friday, 19 February and Saturday, 20 February 2010 following by Floats Processions at Sembawang GRC, Tampines GRC and Chinatown on 21, 27 and 28 February respectively. As the lead organizer of the Chingay Parade, the People's Association (PA) has received excellent comments from guests, audiences, media and members of the public after the event.

This year in particular, we have also received plenty of positive feedback on the hospitality provided by the "Chingay Ambassadors" from Republic Poly. The guests and audiences were very impressed and delighted with the courtesy and warmth extended to them by your RP students. They were also very impressed with the team work displayed by the RP students during the Chingay Parade.

The success of Chingay this year would not have been possible without the strong support and participation of the 120 student volunteers and teaching staff from the Republic Polytechnic (RP). Our most heartfelt appreciation and thanks goes to all the teaching staff and students who have worked very hard over the 2 parade days, helping us tremendously in areas like crowd control and marshalling. Together, your student volunteers have helped to bring joy and sense of cultural pride among all Singaporeans and residents of Singapore.

Special mention and appreciation also goes out to 3 of your dedicated teaching staff who have worked closely with us on this project, namely Mr Koh Chiu How (overall co-ordinator), Mr You Sean Chung and Ms Loh HuiLing. Led by Chiu How, all 3 of them have been very supportive and helpful throughout this event. From briefing the students to taking care of their needs and safety etc., they were always around to extend a helping hand and ensure everything was done well.

On behalf of the People’s Association, I wish to express my deepest appreciation to you and RP (including your teaching staff and students) who have helped out as volunteers for at Chingay 2010. We hope that through volunteering their services in Chingay, your students have also built friendship among themselves and achieved a sense of civic pride in contributing to a well-loved national event.

We look forward to Republic Poly's continued strong support and partnership, and hope to work together with RP again to make the next Chingay in 2011 an even better parade.

Thanks.

Best Regards,
Julian Aw (Mr)
